Historical Activities Fall/Winter Lecture Series :

The Historical Activities Committee organizes a number of lectures and activities for the National Society of Colonial Dames in the State of New York.  The annual Fall and Winter Lecture Series is always a hit, featuring three expert scholars of the American Colonial period. Each lecture is preceded by a cocktail and canapé reception in our dining room. 

Mardi Gras Masquerade

Shortly before Mardi gras the Van Cortlandt House Museum Committee hosts its annual Mardi Gras Masquerade which is always a festive celebration and features live music from the Frank Dickinson Band, New Orleans-style treats, signature cocktails, an open bar and tarot card readings. This event benefits the Van Cortlandt House Museum. Don’t forget to borrow a mask, grab some beads and let the good times roll! 

Young Members Pink Party

Kick off the summer with the Young Members Committee! The Pink Party is the annual celebration of our younger members and their guests. Frozen drinks, canapés and lively music transform our Headquarters House Museum into the event of the Summer season.

Dames in the Garden Summer Series

Tuesday evenings in our garden is  the place to be! Get together with old friends and meet some new ones at this weekly event.  Enjoy a glass of lemonade or something a bit stronger from our honor bar. Members are encouraged to bring their friends along to get a glimpse inside our Society and enjoy the warm weather and cool breeze in our garden.

Families & Junior Dames Halloween Party

The Families &  Junior Dames committee kick off the holiday season with the spooky and fun Children’s Halloween Party in October. Hosted on a Sunday afternoon to encourage Members and their families to attend. Our beautiful Headquarters House is transformed into a haunted house, with cobwebs streaming down the bannister, mice running amok, and masked founders greeting you at every turn. Witches, wizards, ghosts and princesses take over the house collecting candy from room to room. During an amazing magic show,  members and guests enjoy cocktails and an opportunity to catch up during this busy fall time.

Dames Christmas Reception 

Held on the first Wednesday in December, the annual Dames Christmas Reception is hosted by our Past Presidents and Board of Managers. The black tie optional evening is the perfect way to celebrate this merry time of year with your fellow Dames and their guests. The magnificent holiday decor of our Headquarters House  is something to behold. This year-end event ushers in good tidings of comfort and joy.
