You’ll find out when you join us on Thursday, November 7, in NSCDNY’s field trip to Vassar College in the lovely Hudson Valley, where we’ll view an outstanding collection of 315 samplers given to the College in the 1920s and 1960s. They originate from Western Europe, Britain, and North America, ranging in dates from 1660 to 191 -- one of the largest private groupings in a major art museum.
We’ll meet in Vassar’s new Heartwood conference center, hear a presentation by founders of the Dutchess County Sampler Initiative, sampler experts Stacy Whittaker and Joanne Lukacher, enjoy a catered lunch, then observe examples of the Vassar collection in the College’s superb Loeb Gallery. You’ll have time to ask questions and view one of the prettiest college campuses in the Northeast.
